Samsung teases Galaxy Tab

Sammy has released a sneak peak of the much-anticipated, Galaxy Tab.

It sports features that Apple somehow left out of the iPad, including Flash, an integrated camera and video conferencing.  Price point will undoubtedly come under that of the iPad.

Let the battle of the tabs commence!  Samsung will deliver a full reveal at tech show IFA on the 2nd Sept '10.

Live action Metroid!!

Check out the US live-action ad for  Metroid: Other M - the latest entry in Nintendo's long-running sci-fi adventure saga.

A genuine geekout moment for Metroid fans which reveals blonde bomb shell Samus Aran in the flesh.  Marvel at the bullet-time Exosuit action sequences.

It makes me wonder if we will see a live-action Metroid movie.  The IP certainly has a detailed backstory, a devout fan base, plus Nintendo isn't really short of a few pennies nowadays.  But alas....is it truly possible to break the curse of bad movie adaptations of videogames?!  e.g. Super Mario Brothers, Max Payne, Hitman, Resident Evil, the list goes on.

If anything, this glossy, high production live-action ad provides a tantalising glimpse of how videogames will look in a few years time.

Metroid: Other M Wii launch date: 3rd Sept '10.

Dexter the daddy?!

I recently discovered the deliciously dark Dexter TV series a few weeks ago - I bought seasons 1 and 2 and watched them pretty much back to back.  I fucking love it.

But...I accidentally caught the first episode of season 4 on FX HD the other night....why on earth did the producers decide to 'humanise' the character to such an extent that he now is married and has a baby?!

That totally guts the menacing dark nature of this serial killer!  Okay, I'm all for effective character development, but part of the character's attraction is watching this guy who has very few emotions and feelings deal with the world around him, and watching him try and emulate human emotion!!  This development is almost as bad as when the producers of Star Trek gave Lt. Data an emotion chip!!

An Expendable evening at the movies

An enjoyable homage to those classic 80s action flicks, like Commando, Rambo and Die Hard.

I couldn't stop pissing myself laughing at the absurdly written dialogue which was delivered completely straight, but I have to give Stallone credit, he still knows how to move the camera well and stage some pretty innovative death kills on screen.

Killer scene: When Arnie, Stallone and Willis appear on on-screen simultaneously - Stallone tries to pull off the action movie equivalent of when De Niro met Pacino in Heat.  Obviously, the three ageing action dinosaurs pulling off much more nuanced performances ;)
